Micro-hydro: a stream that outperforms a roof of panels

Power ≈ 9.81 × flow (l/s) × head (m) × 0.5 efficiency. A 10 l/s stream with 8 m of head runs a household baseload day and night, unlike intermittent PV.

Measure head with a hose and a tape before buying anything. Turbine choice follows the ratio: Pelton for high head and low flow, crossflow for the middle, Archimedes screw for high flow and almost no head. Intake screening and winter debris are what actually kill installations.
